Santa Clara del Cobre Michoacan

Santa Clara del Cobre is a village famous for the production of copper items. For over 40 years we celebrate the National Copper Fair organized by artisans and villagers.

About 300 craft workshops allow the public to see them work and share their ancestral processing techniques. Here you learn how to melt copper burn at the stake where pine and oak timbers and whose fire is fueled by heavy hand bellows.

Once the molten metal is allowed to cool and cut into pieces, which are then hammered to form thin sheets. Melt and cool and hitting is a process that is repeated endlessly until the perfect piece. The art of hammered requires singular strength and patience.

Enjoy walking the streets of the town surrounded by houses painted in white and red tiles. Most have beautiful courtyards quarry.

Upon arrival at the center you will find the Plaza de Armas, and around it, small hotels, restaurants and craft shops.

In the center is a single kiosk eighteenth century for its copper roof and numerous iron benches where you can sit and admire the scenery.
Soon you will see vendors globes, snow cones syrup sweetened with currant and very tasted soursop snow. The traditional sweets are very famous throughout Michoacan, do not miss the chance to try them.
